Text: Telephone Digital Answer Machine and Speakerphone. Actually this is an Amstrad Emailer model EM1000-UK but if you want a phone with 700 number memory, that can be used as a speaker phone and which has a digital answer machine check out these features:- - Use as Hands-free speaker phone or use handset - Digital telephone answering machine with call screening and selective message playback and deletion, no waiting for tape to rewind, remote message pick up. - 700 - entry address book, name address and up to 3 phone numbers for each entry, view on a large clear 3 tone LCD screen with look up by name or scroll through all addresses. - Capable of supporting Caller id (if subscribed to BT service) can display name of incoming caller if stored in the address book. - Additional portable electronic pocket address book can be synchronised with base unit and acts as a backup. - Does not need external power to use as standard telephone. In a power cut this phone, unlike the newer model emailers and some other phones, can be used as a standard phone to make emergency calls. - Power supply included for use with UK mains power socket. (Power required for hands free speaker phone, address book and answering machine features.) - Expandable memory using Smart Media Card. - Allows you to type messages and send as fax (but cannot input an existing document) - This model does not support spectrum games and does not support internet surfing. Every thing is included Main phone unit, handset, slide out QWERTY keyboard, Power transformer unit, telephone cable, portable pocket dock-it electronic address book, and manual. The unit has been unwrapped and registered with an e-mail address which is necessary to enable the other features of the machine, but is unmarked and hardly used and is carefully packed in the original box. If you do not want to use it for sending/receiving email:- ---------------------------------------------------------- It has then been programmed to prevent it making automatic email pick up calls. It will try to do so once a week but will not get connected so there will be no unexpected call charges on your phone bill. These charges for calls outside your control seem to be the main criticism of Amstrad Emailers and cannot be totally disabled on newer models. Even without the email functions this machine is very versatile and excellent value. If you want to use it for sending and receiving email:- ------------------------------------------------------- The buyer can easily register another amserve address. If you do use it for email you will have to allow it to make an automatic email pick up call (cost 20 pence) at least once a week and when it does so it may update the internal program so that if you do not make an email call for some time (2 weeks ?) the other features of the machine may be disabled (just make send or pick up an email to enable features again). I think that once updated it may be difficult to switch of the automatic calls without losing some other features (unless you know better !). Anyone wanting to replace an existing emailer can simply use the pocket dock-it to transfer the settings on to this one. The replacement accessory prices from Key Electronics the recommended suppliers are as follows PSU £5.49 Tel line £4.99 Handset and cord £6.99 Mailboard £16.99 Manual £5.99 (This can also be downloaded free in pdf form from the Amstrad web site) Pocket Dock-it £19.99 I have a limited stock (no pocket dock-it databank) which I will sell for half these prices plus actual delivery costs. The pocket dock-it with two CR2025 batteries fitted, is included. I have two of these to sell and the price shown includes delivery by Royal Mail standard parcel service in UK only.
